Philosophically, AKILA WORKSONGS, Inc. (a communications
agency based in New York), is birthed from the knowledge that the sweet
essence of good living can be found when one embraces love, truth,
balance, and beauty.
These concepts, however, are often undervalued
or altogether betrayed in various facets of American society. It is
this society that has, historically and even today, kept most African
Americans underfoot some of the most oppressive social, political,
and economic infrastructures ever established.
While this is true,
we still maintain that the sweet essence of life is God’s gift to all
human beings. This belief is central to our work and it guides
who we choose to represent. Our primary mission, however, is shed a
positive light on and from within the African American community and
the people of color communities.
Artists, activists, and advocates are unique
individuals, but those who are progressive help define what AKILA WORKSONGS
is all about. Our clients and partners embody the work we believe in.
For that reason, we exist to communicate their message to the world,
in traditional and cutting-edge ways. It is our honor to say that you
